Happy New Year

Happy New Year everyone!!

Sorry, no glittering letters. :P

Wish everyone has a good year starting tomorrow.

I saw Bernice Liu

Today I saw Bernice Liu at Autocity pretty closeup. I was driving home from work and passed by Autocity. I knew Bernice will come to Malaysia as she has written it on her Twitter. But, I was not sure if she will really be in Autocity because I thought she has already came on Christmas. So, I drove in to check out the place (see if there's any stage and stuff) and also planned to have dinner there.

I was surprised to hear Bernice voice singing and when I walk close to the stage it's really Bernice practicing her song. More surprising for me was that there's no crowd there. Only like 3-4 people watching (not counting the workers). I saw her sing on stage. I've to say, she really can sing live.
Later a group of youngsters also came to watch. When she finished performing a song, they clapped. But, she didn't wave or anything. Maybe she wanted to concentrate on the practice. But, she's friendly to the workers (dancers and PA people etc) and even told a joke.

After the practice, she went to stand in front of Espresso Cafe. I was very tempted to go there to ask for her autograph. But, I didn't have anything that she can sign on. I thought of asking for a photo with her. But, the guy standing beside her look like a bodyguard (he has those earphone on him). I also was not sure whether it's good to go bother her since this was not a official fan meeting. No other people went to ask for autograph either. They just walk pass her. Maybe they also 'ng hou yi si'. After that she and her group of co-workers went into Espresso Cafe. Her (I assume) bodyguard came out. I was still standing nearby. I was tempted to ask him whether I can take a picture with her (he didn't look fierce), but, ended up didn't do it either.

She later walked out and went with her group of friends and co-worker to Tao, while I dine at Ice Baby next door. I was thinking if I'm lucky enough to meet her again, I will approach her. I did saw her again when she came out of Tao, but, I didn't approach her either because she was with her group of friends and they went straight to her car. The first time I didn't approach, I felt like a miss opportunity and 'hou ng dai'. But the second time, I was at peace with my choice.

Anyway, that's the end of my 'encounter' with Bernice.

From this incident, I felt that I need to be more thick skinned and more daring. I'm too afraid to take risk. I really need to overcome this so that when opportunity comes knocking, I'll be daring to leave my 'safe zone' and do something different.

Anyway back to Bernice. She look big size and bulky on TV. But, in real life, she's actually very slim. She doesn't look big boned at all. I think even I'm fatter than her. Imagine the other actresses who look so much thinner than her. They must be skeletal. She's also not as tall as I expected her to be, even though she's still a bit tall than the rest of the girls walking with her. I expected her to be taller, looking at her onscreen size. I couldn't see all her features because she's wearing shades. She looks beautiful but somehow, I didn't see the cuteness I saw when she's on screen. Maybe it's because of the shades (specs with darken glass).

So far, it's good experience seeing a star close up and doesn't need to be in the middle of a stuffy big crowd and being being pushed and couldn't even get a good view. I can just stand at the most strategic place and see her perform (even though it's only a rehearsal).
